So much more than "Just a Massage"

Traditional Thai Massage has been alive and well for more than 2,000 years, and when performed within its originally designed parameters, it is extremely effective in restoring health, reducing stress and pain, balancing energy, and bringing about states of peace, relaxation, relief, and rejuvenation. After so many centuries of localized development, traditional Thai massage has burst out of its place of origin and is now enjoying increasing popularity around the world.

What is Thai Yoga Massage?

Sometimes called "a lazy person's Yoga workout" Thai Yoga massage combines acupressure, reflexology and applied yoga stretches, given in a smooth and harmonious way, with each move gently dissolving into the next.
This generates a feeling of deep relaxation and balance within the body, improving flexibility, circulation and neurological functioning. The therapist, using their feet, elbows, palms, thumbs and knees, apply pressure, over virtually, the whole body.

Where and what do I need to have one?

Thai massage is given through the clothing on a mat on the floor. So loose comfortable clothing is all that is required. Track suit bottoms or similar are ideal. (Cotton "one size fits all" can be supplied)
You can receive a massage at our rooms in Papakura, Auckland
or in the comfort of your own home (within the greater Auckland area) In your own home all that is required is a warm, quiet area, with a clear space of around 2 x 3 metres.

What Massage Services can I have?

A true Traditional Thai Yoga Massage takes between 2 and 2.5 hours to balance the entire body. Shorter "Thai Style" massages can be done and with good results, especially to work on specific problem areas.
We recommend a
full treatment  for the best overall results.

Chavutti Thirummal Ayurvedic Massage  1 - 1.25 hours
N.B. Only available in our rooms in Papakura

What is it?

This massage treatment is a blend of continuous, rhythmical strokes using warm oils and is administered by the feet of the masseur, whilst balancing on one leg and supported by an overhead rope.
This enables the practitioner to use her foot to travel the whole length of the body in one sweeping, flowing stroke, working from the fingertips to the toes.
This thorough and exotic treatment lasts approx one and a quarter hours  and during this time the repetitive rubbing and ironing out of the client encourages the loosening and releasing of tension and pain throughout the whole body.
With the combination of connected breath-work of the client there is an overall balancing of all systems, including the meridians, the circulatory systems, a toning and stretching of all muscle tissue, a detoxifying of all the major organs. All this can leave the client feeling "taller", energised and renewed.

Where does it come from?
Chavutti Thirummal comes from Kerala in Southern India. This is the home of the ancient art of Kalaripayattu, a martial art, and Kathakali, a classical style of dance. Both these traditional arts use the Chavutti treatment on a continuous basis to promote strength and suppleness to aid the practitioners in preventing injury during their training sessions.
